Dr Hamish Philpott has been a Gastroenterologist since 2011, and specialises in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), food allergy, inflammatory bowel disease and endoscopy. He graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2001, has undertaken additional training interstate and overseas (United Kingdom and North America), and is passionate about medical research and applying the latest evidence to clinical practice.
He was awarded an NHMRC scholarship in 2012 and completed a PhD at Monash University (Melbourne) whilst also serving as a Senior Gastroenterologist at The Alfred Hospital (Melbourne) and Eastern Health (Melbourne) between 2012 and 2017. He has studied in North America and the United Kingdom, and has more than 40 publications in peer reviewed journals. In 2016 he was awarded the annual Philip Bushell Travelling Fellowship, enabling travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to further research on eosinophilic oesophagits, and gain clinical experience in managing complex neurogastroenterological conditions.
