Quality Assurance Programs
Southern and SA
Gastrointestinal Services are committed to a quality health care service.
A clinical nurse, Ann Janeway, runs the quality assurance program
and we also participate in the following initiatives:
1. SCOOP
(Southern Colorectal Cancer Prevention Program)
This progam is
run in associateion with FMC and RGH and ensures that patients enrolled
in colorectal cancer screening have a program consistent with the
latest NHMRC (Australia) Guidelines.
2. BOSS
(Barretts Oesophagus Surveillance Program)
This is a similar
progam to SCOOP, again applying evidence based practice to Barrerrs
surveillance with a dedicated database and regular multi-disciplinary
discussion of care.
3.
INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE
SGS participates
with FMC and RGH in the Southern IBD Service.
A clinical nurse coordinator Peta Leach is the first point of contact
coordinating care.
The IBD service has an active clinical research program, participating
in over 12 trials in Crohns Disease and Colitis at either FMC or Flinders
Private Hospital.
