Established in 2009, Western Heart Care aims to provide comprehensive and easily accessible cardiac care. Situated within the Western Hospital, our services include both inpatient and outpatient facilities.
Our range of outpatient services include:
- Consultations
- Exercise stress testing
- Open access (no consultations requires) to:
- Electrocardiograms
- Echocardiograms
- 24 hour blood pressure monitors
- 24 hour heart rate monitors (Holters)
Our Cardiologists also perform a range of cardiac diagnostic and interventional work such as coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty, stress echocardiography, cardiac MRI, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and monitoring.

Dr Alicia Chan MBBS, FRACP
University of Adelaide graduate 2000. Completed advance training in Cardiology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide with further training at the New Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Scotland. Currently completing PhD.
Interests
Cardiovascular disease in women, heart failure and implantable device therapy including pacemakers and defibrillators – implantation and follow-up.

Dr Devan Mahadavan MBBS, FRACP
University of Adelaide graduate 1998. Also completed advance training in Cardiology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Commenced PhD at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham followed by fellowship at Royal Brisbane Hospital in Cardiac Imaging.
Interests
Cardiac imaging including echocardiography and cardiac MRI and CT angiogram.

Dr Sharmalar Rajendran MBBS, FRACP, PhD
University of Canberra graduate 1998. Completed advanced training in Cardiology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Also completed Postdoctoral Fellowship in Birmingham University and Fellowship in interventional cardiology in Gold Coast Hospital.
